06. Old Time Relijun

otr-2-cover.jpg

Arrington DeDionyso's apocalyptic dance-punk combo Old Time Relijun have recently returned from a ten-year hiatus with a new album "See Now and Know" and a tour that started the night before this episode's release. He joins me and guest co-host Jeremy Schwartz to discuss the origins of the group, influences, lyrical themes and sonic aesthetics. This is a band on a mission to make you dance. Their formula is equal parts joy and terror. This was recorded at Thurston Community Media's studio in Olympia, WA by guest engineer Andrew Ebright.

Recommendations:

Their latest full-length at the time of the interview, "See Now And Know" (2019)

A music video from that album:

Their seminal 2001 album "Witchcraft Rebellion" still sounds fresh as ever:

And here is a single they have released and recorded since this interview's taping. ALL funds raised from donations for this song will be divided between Southern Poverty Law Center www.splcenter.org and Trans Women of Color Collective www.twocc.us/donate/
